Eat One Thing at a Time

Put only one food item on your plate at a time. Try not to eat while around the serving table, but walk to the end of the room or to another room where you can enjoy the food. This will help keep calories away from you and increase your physical activity.

Eat Before You Go
On the day of the event, make healthy choices (i.e., low-fat, high-fiber, carbohydrate-rich) at breakfast and lunch. Try not to starve yourself before you go. Have a small snack just before you leave for the party. Arriving at the party hungry, where the food will look especially good, will only increase your chances of losing control.

Be Assertive
It is inevitable that sometime during the holiday season, someone, somewhere, will want you to try this or try that. Remember, even small samples have calories and they do add up.

If someone offers you food and it fits within your eating plan, enjoy yourself. If not, just say NO.
