How choose teeth whitening products
The advantages of the many whitening items that are found in many stores can be gauged on how well they work, how comfortable they are, how easy they are to use, and how much the teeth actually change color. Most of the basic teeth whitening kits you will find are in one of seven categories. These categories include: Sprays that whiten, gels that can be brushed-on, toothpastes that whiten, professional bleaching systems with trays, strips that whiten, and bite tray bleaching with oil systems.
Of these, the best system to whiten teeth is the professional tray bleaching system, because it can make teeth 11 shades whiter. Anyone can use these, and there is no discomfort in wearing them. After the consumer has an imprint of his or her teeth done in a dental lab, the mouthpiece is made. A teeth-whitening gel is then used to properly fit the teeth, so that it is more comfortable for the gums and more comfortable overall. Of course the professional bleaching systems are more expensive, but also will provide better looking teeth in less time.
The professional bleaching system obviously works much better than that of the boil and bite variety. When put side to side with non-moldable tray bleaching systems, it works well, due to 10 to 22% of the active bleaching ingredient being Carbamide Peroxide. This system can produce up to nine shades of whitening. Though simple to use and pretty comfortable for the user, less peroxide is included in the non-moldable tray teeth whitening kits, rendering them not as useful for bleaching. These products only produce three shades of whitening. It may produce stripping and irregular whitening of the teeth.
One can expect teeth to be unevenly whitened when using whitening strips, although one could deduce that these are a bit effective. Brush-on gels are are even less useful, along with pastes and sprays used for whitening, because there is basically no change of color to the teeth when using these teeth whitening kits. Dental experts feel that toothpastes and sprays that claim to whiten teeth are not useful, because the active components are not included in the necessary proportions to produce good results.
